Overview
We are looking for a Substitute LEGO Robotics and Coding Instructor to step in when our regular instructors are unavailable. The ideal candidate is passionate about STEM education, enjoys working with children, and is comfortable facilitating engaging, hands-on robotics and coding activities for elementary students.
You’ll guide students through exciting lessons that combine creativity, logic, and collaboration, empowering them to build confidence and curiosity while learning the basics of engineering and programming.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engaging 60-minute robotics or coding sessions for elementary students.
Follow the provided lesson plans and curriculum materials to ensure smooth continuity when substituting.
Demonstrate building techniques and simple programming steps using LEGO Robotics platforms.
Support students as they design, build, and code in small groups, promoting collaboration and problem-solving.
Maintain a safe, positive, and organized classroom environment.
Provide clear, encouraging guidance that helps students build confidence and resilience.
Communicate any class updates or feedback to the program coordinator following sessions.
Qualifications
Experience working with children (in schools, camps, or enrichment settings preferred).
Familiarity with LEGO Robotics systems (such as LEGO Spike Prime, EV3, Mindstorms, or NXT).
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Dependable, punctual, and adaptable to changing schedules.
Passionate about education, creativity, and inspiring young learners through STEM.
Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check or fingerprint clearance (Live Scan).
Additional Details
Program take place 2-5 hours per week after school (typically between 2:00–5:00 PM).
Lesson plans and materials are provided, no prior robotics teaching experience required.
Pay rate discussed during the interview.
Opportunities for additional classes or sites (including San Francisco) may be available based on performance and availability.
