Overview 

Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Gardening Instructor to guide young learners in exploring nature, sustainability, and the joy of growing their own plants.


Starting in Spring 2026, this role offers the opportunity to create meaningful, hands-on experiences for K–3 students through gardening lessons that teach patience, responsibility, and care for the environment. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and loves working with children in an outdoor or garden-based setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead gardening and environmental education activities for K–3 students following a structured yet flexible curriculum.

  • Teach students how to plant seeds, care for garden beds, and understand ecosystems through interactive lessons.

  • Manage classroom and garden setup, ensuring materials, tools, and plants are prepared for each session.

  • Guide students in hands-on projects, encouraging teamwork, curiosity, and respect for nature.

  • Incorporate age-appropriate discussions about sustainability, healthy living, and environmental awareness.

  • Oversee classroom management, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

  • Communicate class updates, attendance, and supply needs to the Program Coordinator.

  • Provide mentorship and direction to any assistant instructors or volunteers assigned to the program.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or leading activities for elementary students in school or enrichment settings.

  • Strong interest or background in gardening, botany, sustainability, or outdoor education.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage classroom or outdoor lesson logistics.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and classroom management skills.

  • Dependable, proactive, and enthusiastic about helping children connect with nature.

  • High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in Education, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.

  • Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check (Live Scan).

Part-Time | Contract | 10-14 Hours per Week
San Francisco, CA | Additional teaching opportunities available across the Bay Area | Program begins the first week of January 2026 | Regular School hours
