Overview
Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy is seeking a dependable and musically talented On-Call Substitute Ukulele Instructor to support our middle school after-school music program.
In this role, you’ll step in to lead engaging ukulele lessons when the regular instructor is unavailable. You’ll guide students through beginner-friendly activities that teach rhythm, chords, strumming patterns, and teamwork, all while fostering a joyful, inclusive learning environment.
This position is perfect for someone who loves music, enjoys working with youth, and wants a flexible teaching opportunity with a creative, community-centered program.
Key Responsibilities
Lead ukulele classes as needed when the primary instructor is unavailable.
Follow prepared lesson plans and curriculum materials to ensure class continuity.
Teach students basic chords, strumming techniques, rhythm exercises, and simple songs.
Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and creativity.
Ensure instruments and materials are properly set up, used, and stored.
Communicate with program coordinators regarding class attendance, updates, and any observations about student progress.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom at all times.
Qualifications
Experience teaching or performing music, ideally with the ukulele or guitar.
Previous experience working with students or youth in schools, camps, or enrichment programs.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Dependable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling.
Enthusiastic about music education and mentoring young learners.
High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in Music, Education, or related field preferred.
Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check (Live Scan).
