Overview
Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy is seeking a creative and passionate Photography Lead Instructor to help students explore the art of photography in a fun, hands-on after-school setting.
Beginning in Winter 2025, this class invites 4th–8th grade students to discover the fundamentals of photography using smartphones or tablets. Through engaging lessons, students will learn how to capture powerful images, experiment with lighting and composition, and express themselves through digital editing tools.
This is a wonderful opportunity for an artist-educator who loves working with kids and wants to inspire creative confidence through visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Lead interactive photography lessons that teach students key concepts such as framing, composition, lighting, and perspective.
Introduce beginner-friendly digital editing tools such as Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Express to enhance creativity and technique.
Guide students through creative photo projects that promote storytelling, observation, and self-expression.
Adapt lessons to accommodate various skill levels and artistic interests.
Maintain an organized, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued.
Encourage collaboration and positive feedback through group sharing and discussions.
Communicate regularly with program coordinators and school staff to ensure classes run smoothly and materials are prepared.
Qualifications
Background in photography, digital media, or visual arts.
Experience teaching or working with elementary or middle school students preferred.
Comfortable using mobile photography tools (smartphones or tablets) and beginner-level editing apps.
Excellent communication, patience, and classroom management skills.
Dependable, organized, and creative with lesson planning and student engagement.
Reliable transportation to the program site in Napa, CA.
Must be 18 years or older and able to pass a background check (Live Scan).
Passionate about inspiring students to see the world through a creative lens.
