Little Steps, Big Ideas at Valhalla
We just wrapped up a season at Valhalla Elementary in Pleasant Hill, and I keep thinking about the quiet moments. The ones where a kid would stop, stare at a robot that wasn't working, and you could almost see the gears turning in their own head before they tried something new. Valhalla is one of those schools that feels grounded, focused on building a foundation for the whole child, not just the student. That’s exactly the kind of place where we love to work. It never feels like we’re adding an extra thing; it feels like we’re adding to something they’re already building.

The Right Fit
Their mission is about empowering every student in a supportive environment. Ours is about creating the hands-on moments where that empowerment actually happens. It’s a simple, natural alignment. They create the community; we get to come in and offer a new kind of challenge within it. This fall, that challenge came in the form of our LEGO Robotics program.
Building and Figuring It Out
We don't teach robotics so much as we create a space for it. We set out the kits, give a basic challenge, and then step back. The real magic is in what happens next: the debate over why a wheel is slipping, the shared frustration when a line of code fails, and the collective excitement when it finally works. The goal was never a perfect robot. The goal was the process, learning to think like an engineer, which is really just learning to be patient, logical, and collaborative.
