 Micro:bits for Beginners Class

Micro:bits for Beginners

About the Program

Program Overview

The Micro:bits for Beginners Program of DDSTEAM helps students explore the exciting intersection of coding and engineering using the BBC Micro:bit, a pocket-sized programmable computer. Young coders learn how to use simple block-based or text-based programming to make LEDs blink, measure temperature, play sounds, and respond to motion. Each session encourages creativity, curiosity, and teamwork through real-world problem-solving and invention challenges. This program builds a strong foundation in computational thinking and introduces students to the joy of creating technology that interacts with the world around them.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Understand the Basics of Coding: Write and modify simple programs using Micro:bit editors.

  • Explore Physical Computing: Learn how sensors, buttons, and LEDs respond to code.
