About the Program

Program Overview

The Pottery Program of DDSTEAM allows students to experience the traditional art of pottery-making in a hands-on, creative environment. Using clay, air-dry clay, or play dough, students learn how to shape and form functional objects like vases, cups, and bowls, as well as decorative pieces. Each class teaches the fundamentals of hand-building, coiling, and carving while promoting focus, patience, and pride in craftsmanship. The program connects art with mindfulness, helping students enjoy the relaxing, tactile process of transforming simple clay into meaningful works of art.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Learn Pottery Techniques: Practice hand-building, coiling, and basic sculpting.

  • Understand Functional Art: Create usable or decorative clay pieces.
