About the Program

Program Overview

The Sewing & Design Program of DDSTEAM introduces students to the fundamentals of sewing and fashion design through hands-on, age-appropriate projects. Participants learn how to thread needles, make basic stitches, design simple patterns, and assemble creative fabric pieces such as accessories, plush items, or small garments. Each session promotes patience, focus, and craftsmanship while encouraging personal expression through color, texture, and style. Students also explore sustainability and creativity by repurposing materials into new designs. This program empowers learners to see sewing as both a practical life skill and an art form that combines imagination, planning, and detail.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Learn Sewing Basics: Practice threading, knotting, and stitching safely.

  • Develop Design Thinking: Plan and sketch ideas before creating their projects.
