About the role

We're looking for an enthusiastic Culinary Instructor to lead hands-on cooking classes for elementary students in Oakland. Students learn kitchen safety, cooking fundamentals, teamwork, and creativity through fun, age-appropriate recipes. Responsibilities: Lead engaging cooking classes using the provided curriculum. Teach kitchen safety and basic cooking techniques. Prepare ingredients and materials before each class. Maintain a clean, organized learning environment. Communicate professionally with school staff. Submit brief after-class updates following each session. Schedule: Tuesdays, 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM. Start date September 1, 2026.

What we’re looking for

Experience working with elementary-aged children is required. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Comfortable leading hands-on cooking activities. Maintain clear and timely communication with the program team and submit after-class reports. Must be available for the Fall schedule. Applicant must reside in Oakland or within 20 miles of Oakland. Preferred: Background in culinary arts, food service, nutrition, hospitality, or education. Food Handler/ServSafe certification.
