About the role
We're looking for an engaging and dependable Robotics Instructor to lead a weekly after-school robotics program for students in grades 5-8 in San Jose. Students explore robotics, engineering, and coding through hands-on projects that involve building, programming, testing, and improving their creations. The goal is to make STEM engaging and accessible while developing creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Curriculum and lesson materials are provided. Responsibilities: Lead engaging robotics lessons using the provided curriculum. Guide students through building, programming, testing, and improving robotics projects. Introduce engineering, robotics, and coding concepts in an age-appropriate way. Encourage collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance. Prepare robotics equipment and lesson materials before each session. Maintain a safe, organized, positive classroom. Communicate professionally with school staff and program coordinators. Submit a brief after-class update following each session. Schedule: Mondays, 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Grades 5-8. Start date September 14, 2026.
What we’re looking for
Experience working with students in grades 5-8 or similar age groups. Experience teaching or facilitating robotics, coding, STEM, or technology-based activities. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Reliable, organized, punctual, and professional. Must maintain clear, timely communication with the program team and submit a brief after-class update following each session. Applicant must reside in San Jose or within 20 miles of San Jose. Preferred: Background in robotics, engineering, computer science, STEM, education, or a related field. Familiarity with educational robotics platforms and coding tools.
