About the role
The Youth Strength Development program is an engaging after-school fitness class for elementary students in Walnut Creek. Designed to promote healthy habits, boost physical confidence, and improve overall wellness, it introduces age-appropriate strength-based activities through fun, structured routines. Sessions focus on bodyweight exercises, functional movements, and games that develop balance, coordination, and endurance in a supportive, inclusive environment. Responsibilities: Implement fitness routines and physical activities that build strength, coordination, and confidence. Modify exercises to meet varying skill levels, ensuring safe and inclusive participation. Create a positive, encouraging environment that promotes teamwork, growth mindset, and healthy habits. Manage student behavior, transitions, and materials while maintaining a safe and organized setting. Communicate regularly with program coordinators and follow attendance and incident reporting procedures. Schedule: Fridays, 2:35 PM to 3:35 PM. Kindergarten to 5th grade. Start date September 11, 2026.
What we’re looking for
Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational or athletic settings. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Passion for promoting healthy lifestyles and engaging children in fun physical activity. Applicant must reside in Walnut Creek or within 20 miles of Walnut Creek. Preferred: Background in physical education, youth fitness, coaching, kinesiology, or a related field. CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
