About the role
Are you interested in science, nature, gardening, creativity, and working with young children? We are seeking a creative, nurturing, and dependable STEAM & Gardening Instructor to lead hands-on enrichment classes for Transitional Kindergarten to 1st grade students at a school in San Francisco. This is a strong part-time opportunity for college students, recent graduates, future teachers, child development students, environmental science students, STEAM educators, and anyone interested in youth development or outdoor education. The program combines gardening, environmental education, science, technology, engineering, art, math, and unplugged computer science through playful, age-appropriate activities. Students learn through planting, observing, experimenting, building, measuring, sorting, creating, storytelling, movement, and problem-solving. Curriculum and program support are provided. Schedule: Wednesdays and Fridays, approximately 8 to 10 hours per week. Transitional Kindergarten to 1st grade. Fall 2026 term.
What we’re looking for
Experience working with young children, particularly Transitional Kindergarten to 1st grade. Passion for science, nature, gardening, environmental education, or STEM/STEAM. Nurturing, patient, and comfortable leading playful hands-on activities with early learners. Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Preferred: Background in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
