Grades K-5, one or two weekday afternoons per week, about 2:30-4:30 PM including setup and cleanup. We run hands-on after-school cooking classes at Oakland elementary schools. You will lead a group of 10-15 kids through a simple recipe each week, teaching kitchen safety, knife and heat basics, measuring and teamwork. Curriculum, recipes, ingredients and equipment are provided.
What we’re looking for
Cooking background: restaurant, cafe, catering, kitchen, culinary school, or serious home cooking you can teach from. Experience with children through teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, after-school, coaching or childcare. Must live in Oakland or close enough for a reliable weekday afternoon commute. Food Handler card or willingness to get one before start, which we reimburse. Must pass a background check and TB test. Spanish or Cantonese a plus.
