Grades 6-8, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:00-4:30 PM including setup and cleanup. Lead a weekly cooking class for middle schoolers at an Oakland school. Students work in small teams on real recipes, from knife skills and stovetop basics to a final cook-off at the end of the session. You bring the kitchen experience and the energy; we bring the curriculum, ingredients and equipment. Classes run 60-75 minutes for 12-18 students.
What we’re looking for
Real cooking experience: line cook, prep cook, catering, cafe, culinary program or equivalent. Experience teaching or supervising youth ages 10-14. Must live in Oakland or nearby with a reliable way to reach the site by 2:45 PM. Calm, organized and safety-minded around teens with knives and heat. Food Handler card or willingness to get one before start, which we reimburse. Must pass a background check and TB test. Nutrition or dietetics background and Spanish are a plus.
