After-school chess for grades 2-5, weekdays 1:10-2:10 PM, October 28 to December 9 (4 sessions). We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable After-School Chess Instructor to lead engaging chess classes for elementary students in Pleasant Hill. Ideal for people who enjoy working with children and helping students develop strategic thinking, patience and problem-solving through chess. You will teach fundamentals, strategies and good sportsmanship, and guide students through lessons, puzzles and friendly matches. Curriculum and lesson plans are provided.
What we’re looking for
Experience teaching or coaching chess to children. Strong knowledge of chess fundamentals and strategy. Experience with children in an educational, enrichment, camp or youth development setting preferred. Strong classroom management, communication and organizational skills. Must pass a background check, complete onboarding and school compliance training, and be authorized to work in the United States. Reliable transportation to assigned school sites.
