About the role

We are seeking a curious, energetic STEM Instructor to lead hands-on science and engineering classes for elementary students in San Francisco. You'll guide small groups through experiments, investigations, and build challenges that make science feel like discovery rather than a lesson. This role suits education, science and child development students, as well as camp counsellors, teacher aides, and museum or outreach educators who want steady weekday hours. Curriculum and lesson materials are provided. Responsibilities: Lead small-group STEM classes for TK to 5th grade students. Facilitate science investigations, engineering challenges, nature and environmental science, and science mysteries and problem solving. Foster a safe, inclusive, supportive classroom. Maintain engagement and manage classroom behaviour. Prepare materials before class and handle clean-up afterwards. Track attendance and communicate updates to the Program Coordinator. Communicate professionally with school staff, parents and coordinators. Follow all school-site safety procedures. Schedule: Varies by site, weekday afternoons. Grades TK-5.

What we’re looking for

Experience working directly with elementary-age children through teaching, tutoring, camps, after-school programs, STEM programs, science museums, enrichment, mentoring, coaching or youth development. Strong communication and classroom-management skills. Comfortable leading and supervising groups. Able to follow provided curriculum while adapting to student needs. Applicant must reside in San Francisco or within 20 miles. Must commit to the Fall 2026 schedule, pass a background check and complete fingerprinting/live scan. Preferred: Background in education, child development, early childhood studies, biology, chemistry, environmental science or a related field. Experience running after-school, camp or enrichment programming.
