Four Ways to Create This Spring at Hillcrest Elementary
Our spring partnership with Hillcrest Elementary in Oakland included Culinary, Coding, Robotics, and K-Pop Dance. Through Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy, we brought a varied enrichment lineup with different kinds of practical and creative work.
From ingredients to instructions
Culinary connected measuring and preparation with following a recipe. Coding explored how an idea becomes a sequence of instructions, while Robotics brought programming together with a physical build. Each program offered details to work through, from the order of preparation to how a command affects movement.
Adding music to the mix
K-Pop Dance brought attention to counts, coordinated steps, and connecting sections of choreography. Across the lineup, practice took different forms: reviewing code, adjusting a build, preparing food, or repeating a movement sequence. We valued the opportunity to offer Hillcrest students several ways to participate and explore their interests.
