Measuring, Mixing, and Learning at Aurora School
We partnered with Aurora School in Oakland this spring to bring Culinary into the enrichment lineup. Our Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy program connected working with ingredients with the practical steps behind preparing food.
Measuring, mixing, and assembling
Our approach brought attention to quantities, consistency, and the order of preparation. Each step contributed to a finished result, giving students something concrete to work toward while exploring how ingredients come together.
Paying attention to the changes
Texture and flavor offered details to investigate along the way. We made room to consider what changes when ingredients are combined and how different components complement one another. Alongside that exploration, we emphasized preparing a workspace, handling shared materials carefully, and cleaning up. Our Culinary partnership brought creativity into a process students could follow and take part in.
