About the role

We're seeking a creative and energetic Thanksgiving Camp Instructor to lead our STEAM Camp for elementary students in Pleasant Hill. This two-week November program blends Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math through hands-on, playful, project-based activities. Week 1 — Coding & Robotics: students explore the basics of coding and robotics through introductory programming, Scratch-based activities and hands-on LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 projects, learning about algorithms, logic and engineering. Week 2 — Arts & Creativity: students explore visual arts, sculpture, design, papier-mâché, air-dry clay, painting and recycled-material art, experimenting with materials and techniques while developing imagination and design skills. Responsibilities: Lead engaging STEAM-based lessons and activities. Facilitate hands-on experiments, projects and group challenges. Encourage creativity, critical thinking and collaboration. Manage classroom engagement in a fun, structured environment. Work closely with fellow instructors and site coordinators. Ensure a safe, positive and inclusive camp experience. Schedule: November 2 to November 13, 2026. 1.5 to 2 hours per session.

What we’re looking for

Experience working with elementary-aged children. Comfortable leading hands-on activities and group learning. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Energetic, patient and engaging teaching style. Available during the November Thanksgiving Camp schedule. Preferred: Background in STEAM, education or enrichment programs. Experience in arts, art history, design, visual arts or leading creative art projects.
