About the role
We're looking for a passionate and energetic Gardening & STEAM Instructor to lead an engaging after-school enrichment program that connects students with the natural world through hands-on gardening, outdoor exploration, and environmental learning. Students will discover how plants grow, explore local ecosystems, and learn about sustainability through interactive activities that encourage curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for nature. This is a great opportunity for educators, gardeners, environmental enthusiasts, and outdoor educators who enjoy inspiring young learners through hands-on experiences. Responsibilities: Lead engaging gardening and nature exploration lessons using provided curriculum. Guide students through planting, watering, soil care, and basic garden maintenance. Introduce environmental concepts such as ecosystems, pollinators, composting, and sustainability. Encourage curiosity, teamwork, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment during both indoor and outdoor activities. Prepare lesson materials and gardening supplies before each session. Communicate professionally with school staff and follow all site procedures. Schedule: Fall 2026 Afterschool Program (Sep 4 - Dec 18, 2026).
What we’re looking for
Experience working with children in a school, camp, or youth program setting. Comfortable leading outdoor, nature-based, and hands-on learning activities. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Reliable, organized, and able to work independently. Enthusiastic about creating engaging outdoor learning experiences. Preferred: Background in environmental science, biology, education, horticulture, gardening, or a related field. Experience leading outdoor education, gardening, sustainability, or nature-based programs. Passion for environmental education and hands-on learning.
